History
1998 — The 1998 Vancouver Butoh Festival took place in August and November, 1998 and featured performances and workshops by Gustavo Collini-Sartor from Argentina, Masahide Ohmori from Japan, and Yumiko Yoshioka from Japan/Germany.
2000 — The 2000 Vancouver International Dance Festival presented workshops and performances by Fujiwara Dance Inventions (Ontario), Kozensha Butoh Company (Japan), GooSayTen (Japan), Jocelyne Montpetit Danse (Quebec), Tangentz Performance Group (USA), Ziyian Kwan (BC), Kokoro Dance (BC), and SU-EN (Sweden).
2001 — The 2001 Vancouver International Dance Festival presented workshops and performances by par b.l.eux (Benoît Lachambre - Quebec), Diego Piñón (Mexico), Shirka Urechko (Manitoba), Shinichi Momo Koga (USA), Mascall Dance (BC), battery opera (BC), Co. ERASGA (BC), Kinesis Dance (BC), Plan B Dance Productions (BC), and Kokoro Dance (BC).
2003 — The 2003 Vancouver International Dance Festival presented workshops and performances by Germany's Ten Pen Chii Art Labor, Ontario's classical Indian dance company Chitralekha Odissi Dance Creations, New York based Japanese duo Eiko and Koma, Vancouver companies Kokoro Dance and Co. Erasga, Montréal's Danse Carpe Diem and the American modern dance trio Paradigm, with legendary peformers Gus Solomons Jr., Dudley Williams and Carmen De Lavallade. A series of free public performances by Vancouver dancers and dance companies include Karen Jamieson Dance Company, Kokoro Dance's Barbara Bourget, Jheric Hizon, Daelik, and Ziyian Kwan.
2004 —The 2004 Vancouver International Dance Festival took place March 09 - March 27 at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver, BC and featured mainstage performances by EDAM Dance, Kokoro Dance, the Hard Rubber Orchestra, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, David Pressault Danse, Erwin Vann, Silesian Dance Theatre, Rubberbandance Group, Kate Alton, Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Tadashi Endo, and Thomas Lehmen. Free performances by Firefly Performance Society, Hizon’s b-boys/b-girls, Helen Walkley, Dancers Dancing, Brock Jellison, and Flamenco Rosario.
2005 —The 2005 Vancouver International Dance Festival took place between March 8 and March 26, 2005, at the Roundhouse Community Centre in Vancouver, BC and featured mainstage performances by EDAM Dance, Kokoro Dance, Silesian Dance Theatre, Wen Wei Dance, Lucie Grégoire Danse, LINK Dance, Maureen Fleming, Skin/A Fleur De Peau, and Quorum. Free performances by Venus Bellydancers, Jennifer Clarke & Anne Cooper, Mozaico Flamenco, Science Friction, Dancers Dancing, Amber Funk, Ballet BC Mentors, MainDance, Freeform Tribe, and Urban Tap Squad.

Mainstage performances by Two Night Stand (Barbara Bourget, Jay HIrabayashi, Tanya Tagaq, Cris Derksen, Lee Pui Ming, Tony Wilson, Dylan van der Schyff), Jérôme Bel & Pichet Klunchun, Ipsita Nova Dance Projects, Lucie Grégoire & Yoshito Ohno, Louise Bédard Danse, Mascall Dance/Ron Stewart, Natsu Nakajima, Dancers Dancing & the Vancouver Cantata Singers, Maria Juncal, Kokoro Dance & the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Kokoro Dance, MOVE: the company, and Martha Carter-mmHoP. Free performances by Out Innerspace, Rob Kitsos & Dancers, Karen Rose, casebolt & smith, The Source Dance Co./Harbour Dance Centre's ITP, Floating Seed, The Story of Force & Motion, and Mozaico Flamenco.
2010 - The 2010 Vancouver International Dance Festival presented by the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad took place March 12-21, at the Roundhouse Community Centre, Vancouver Playhouse, Harbour Dance Centre, EDAM Dance Studio and the Scotiabank Dance Centre. The festival featured mainstage performances by Mascall Dance, Kitt Johnson, LAFA & Artists, Bill Shannon, Peggy Baker, Toronto Dance Theatre, Black Grace, and Ronald K. Brown’s Evidence Dance Company. On the Exhibition Hall free stage, we presented Kokoro Dance, Flamenco Rosario, Out Innerspace, and Michael Sakamoto.
In the Exhibition Hall, we also featured the art of Jim Cummins (aka I, Braineater) and Bernadine Fox. Other outreach activities included master classes and workshops by Kitt Johnson, Christopher House, Artistic Director of Toronto Dance Theatre, and Ronald K. Brown, Artistic Director of Evidence Dance Company.
2011 – The 2011 Vancouver International Dance Festival took place March 1 – 19, 2011 at the Roundhouse, Shadbolt Centre for the Arts, and Vancouver Art Gallery-Offsite. Kokoro Dance gave free performances at the VAG-Offsite. Free performance were also performed on the Exhibition Hall stage by battery opera, The Source, Arts Umbrella Dance Company, Khambatta Dance Company (Seattle), T42 (Switzerland/Japan), and Now or Never. On the Roundhouse Performance Centre main stage were performances by EDAM, Yvonne Pouget (Germany), Deborah Dunn (Montreal), Cruceta Flamenco (Spain), Marc Boivin (Montreal) & Ichigo-Ichieh (Nelson), and Kokoro Dance with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. SiNS Dance Company self-presented under the marketing banner of the VIDF at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
In the Exhibition Hall, we also featured a retrospective photo exhibition of the photography of Chris Randle covering over thirty years of Vancouver dance photography. Master classes were taught by Mariano Cruceta, Cyrus Khambatta, and Marc Boivin.

Une série de représentations gratuites par des danseurs et des troupes de Vancouver, parmi lesquelles Karen Jamieson Dance Company, Barbara Bourget de Kokoro Dance, Jheric Hizon, Daelik, et Ziyian Kwan.

Kokoro Dance s’est produit gratuitement à la Vancouver Art Gallery-Offsite. Mais des spectacles gratuits furent aussi donnés par Battery opera, The Source, Arts Umbrella Dance Company, Khambatta Dance Company (Seattle), T42 (Suisse/Japon), et Now or Never sur la scène de la salle des Expositions. Sur la scène principale du Roundhouse ont eu lieu des représentations d’EDAM, Yvonne Pouget (Allemagne), Deborah Dunn (Montréal), Cruceta Flamenco (Espagne), Marc Boivin (Montréal) & Ichigo-Ichieh (Nelson), et de Kokoro Dance avec l’orchestre symphonique de Vancouver VSO. SiNS Dance Company s’est auto présenté sous la bannière du VIDF au Shadbolt Centre for the Arts.
Dans le hall des Expositions, nous avons aussi présenté une exposition des travaux du photographe Chris Randle, qui assure depuis plus 30 ans les reportages photos des représentations de danse de Vancouver. Les cours furent donnés par Mariano Cruceta, Cyrus Khambatta, et Marc Boivin.
